1. Life (Just Like In Business) Is ALWAYS Up and Down
Some day's my mornings start of amazing, but then situations arise that put me down. Yet, after a while it goes back to amazing. This is a constant pattern that everyone has to deal with. If you ignore it, you will not be your best, simply because you won't have to ability to accept the down times and therefore the wear and tear will make you "give up" and watch tv all day. Yes, even on vacation this rule remains true. Therefore, it is important to know that even though it might not have happened now, there is no reason it won't in 1 hour. Keep moving, you'll get there, but only if you don't stop.
2. Most Of Us Are Too Perplexed
Too many people worry about... well everything. "How do I make the best media campaign? What's the best way to use SEO? Should I buy Media Ads? I can't make my site because I need the perfect logo for branding? etc. etc." Instead of creating, we allow ourselves to become paralyzed. No strategy is the right strategy, simply because it hasn't been implemented yet. At the end of the day, you can always change your logo, design, strategy, approach etc. , but you can never change the fact that you failed to try. Take one thing, do it, then move on to the next. One day you will wake up having done it all. Relax, everyone has went through this process.
3. Family Is Family, Sorry Friend
No matter how annoying or frustrating they can be, if you can't accept your family, then good luck in the real world. It doesn't matter how against your fastlane plans they are, nor does it matter how they choose to live their life. It makes no difference to you. The more you accept, the more you will be accepted.
4. You Can Only Play God For So Long... But At The End Of The Day You Remain Mortal
Having a good diet and getting exercise for a while is amazing and admirable. What it isn't, is getting over confident and slowly letting in "breaks". Even before my vacation, I had started eating a little bit more unhealthy food and "getting an extra rest day" a little more often. The spiral led to a day of cramps, shivers and nausea. Don't compromise here, it will come back to you someday.
5. I literally Come Up With A Million Dollar Idea Per Day
5 days in a row I had a "ah-ha" moment. It got so bad I couldn't keep juggling the ideas in my head, so I had to write them down quickly. Being put in a different atmosphere made me realize how comfortable and lazy we can be. I would dismiss ideas on facts like "not liking the industry". People don't "know what to do" because they want to do something that pleases them... yet the only way to succeed is to do something that pleases others. That's the price of freedom.
Here is an entrepreneurial story of someone who lives in a 3rd world country:
I was visiting some friends who had moved out to the country for a day. After a nice lunch I expressed how I wanted my own business and some of my plans. One of my friends then told me about a man from the village.
This man resided in a 40 people village. After he graduated from school, he started working for a firm, where he was determined to grow. The problem was that the firm was paying him $90 (EUROS) PER MONTH.
The man decided that he was not going to be enslaved anymore so he picked up an ax. He took the ax to the forest and cut down some very nice wood.
He then traveled to the city and started to sell the wood. All the other men in the village laughed at him because "who wants to go to the forest and cut wood, they would much rather drink beer and talk about the bad economy".
2 years later and that man BOUGHT (with cash) his own house, car and truck for his business. Not only that but he now has 2 employees and is looking to expand further.
Who said cutting wood is not lucrative?
6. If You Think You Have It Bad, You Don't
Problems are problems, nobody is going to deny that. But, who cares? If you focus on them even 1% you are wasting your time. Someone always has it better and someone always has it worse. On top of that MILLIONS of people have it way worse.
One of my friends told me a story about a taxi driver who used to work for him:
After being let go by my friends firm, the driver confessed to my friend that he doesn't know what to do with his life anymore. He told my friend that his wife is very ill with cancer and that his son has numerous diseases that he can't pay to treat either. Not only can he not pay for the treatments, but he can barely pay rent.
My friend asked him what he ate? The driver said " Every Sunday I go to the farmers market, just before they are about to throw away all the left over pieces of the dirty or spoiled potatoes. I take the potatoes and I go home and make potato soup. This soup lasts our family 7 day's until next Sunday"
