Hey everyone,
I used to be a member here years and years ago when I first read TMF . Then I got a job and coasted through life for a while (5 years). Well now I'm drowning in debt, I have larger aspirations and ambitions with my life (ordained ministry) and I need to clear a lot of debt fast, build some wealth, and get myself to a healthy and steady position so that in the future I can pursue pulpit ministry without worrying about providing.
(As an aside, I really want kids, my wife doesn't, and I'm certain that she doesn't because it would destroy us financially)
So the other day I re-purchased TMF on audio book and it has been kicking my butt. Seriously, I forgot how life changing this book is!
I'm working on the Don't Be Selfish thing and solving an actual need instead of just looking to fulfil my desire for money.
To that end, I've been interviewing business owners I know about their pain points, and I've been searching online (Pro Tip: Message boards are full of people absolutely broadcasting their needs).
But this weird thing happens where I think I psyche myself out. I'll give you an example of this that happened to me today.
I was searching on cat forums and I saw an overwhelming number of people who were having trouble introducing two cats together. I happen to own multiple cats and my day job is animal related, and I have a ton of experience putting two strange cats together in a room and them being okay.
So my immediate idea: Teach people how to do that via a free video course. Use that to gather up emails and what not for a list. Move into branded cat products and sell to existing customer base. (or something similar).
I got really excited. I came up with great marketing ideas (sponsoring cat adoptions at various shelters, etc). Then I thought, "Eh, you can look up way more qualified people on YouTube." and then I got discouraged and dropped the idea, dismissing it as pointless or hopeless.
What the hell is this? How do I stop it?
