Offering top flight --and free-- customer service is something that's hard to do w/a product designed to be a cheap as possible.
At first I was surprised that the Pentagon didn't have contracts w/HP for service. Then I realized: It's probably 10-1000x cheaper for a unit to buy one of these from Best Buy and have it shipped, than it would be to get one via a government contract! So even if they have to buy a new one, it's cheaper than our current system.
Sure would be smart of HP to offer free tech support to the military, though. Just plain 'ole good PR.
