Since I was 9 years old, I wanted to be a writer. Not because I liked writing, but because a book once written will remain written (and keep selling) indefinitely. I've grown up to really like writing (non-fiction) and I could argue I am so-so at it when I try. I read TMF over 3 years ago and it gave me a greater perspective. Since then I swallowed dozens of books on business and marketing. I had the background for starting a business. My first ideas were based on selling various forms of info-products. But the problem with non-fiction is that you need to have a message or knowledge worth sharing. And while I am a fast learner and even have such knowledge, I don't feel comfortable doing that. Looking back, my ideas were probably questionable in terms of at least one fastlane commandment, but the primary reason I gave up was that I just didn't enjoy the journey. I truly hate appearances, and marketing would require a lot of that (at least in my case at the time). Nevertheless, they were all useful experiences. I decided that I need to learn a skill that will be easier to sell and that I will enjoy learning. I started learning programming and I just got my first job. Now I can learn a useful skill while I work, what means that I'm just about to get back half of my time. That's a huge step. The next step: Get my own business rolling.
