I'm curious to hear from anyone who has successfully sold an online business for a good chunk of change. As I've been building my SEO/Reputation Management company with a goal of selling that later on, it occurred to me that my first business, which is ten years old this year, is still consuming a good chunk of the time that I need to build the 2nd one.
Ten years old, about $400k/year in profit, no employees, basically autopilot save for managing the massive Google AdWords account that feeds traffic. (BTW if selling isn't realistic, then Plan B would be phasing out, or scaling down AdWords to eliminate the management time, and replacing it with other marketing channels.)
A friend of mine who is already a multi-millionaire put one of his very profitable web businesses (more profitable than mine, albeit with employees and more headaches), on Flippa but that was a waste of time. Nothing but dumb questions from amateurs.
Thoughts/input? Who has pulled this off? Are there any resources I'm missing? Thanks!
EDIT: Just wanted to add, in browsing online businesses for sale, "Seller Financing" comes up a lot. This is something I'd be open to for the cashflow as long as the due diligence pans out.
