Hi everyone,
I'm just venting my thoughts as a slowlaner with the dreams of leaving this roadmap and pursuing a fastlane business. I recently withdrew from my grad-level summer course because I realize that I can't keep diverting my attention away from my goals of starting my own fastlane business. What's funny is that I've always been the type to pursue my goals vigorously and with no fear once I have an epiphany regarding my path in life. This time, it's different. I came from a very rough neighborhood and poor family and I'm a first generation college student. I've always made good grades in school with a knack for studying and concentration, and went to college on a scholarship with very little in student loans. Currently, my job has offered to pay for the first half of my MBA (a graduate certificate program) as long as I continue working for them one year after its completion. I'm two classes in and just dropped my third course. I don't know why but I feel remorseful over this decision, although I know it's the right one to make.
One thing that TMF taught me was that "debt that traps you to a job is not good debt." I would have to work for my current employer until the fall of 2016 or pay back all the monies incurred for the graduate certificate. I'm already two classes/6k in and I know I should stop because this is a slowlane entrapment, not something I need to do immediately to pursue a fastlane business. The course was actually pretty insightful though...
I'm grateful for the opportunity but my goals are aligned differently. I just regret dropping the course although I understand that sometimes you have to let go of good opportunities to make way for great ones. Not sure what I'm looking for from you all, if nothing more than just your thoughts/encouragement/opinions/concerns
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
