Hi,
I am requiring some feedback for a business idea that I have been trying to put together.
It's a hands-on workshop for children (enquiry based learning).
Addresses literacy, numeracy and social development.
Children will engage in "solving the mystery" type adventures, where they will go on an adventure and problem solve in small groups. Each workshop will be themed e.g. Pirates, Superheroes, Sports (to engage the children)
I am an Early Childhood educator. Educational systems are not providing children enough opportunities to be creative, problem solve and to use higher order thinking in their learning. They are not developing the necessary risk taking skills to succeed.
Much of the learning in classrooms is self-centered/ unilateral. Children are not performing in tasks whereby they need to cooperate in groups and possess an open mindset.
I plan to run workshops on Weekends at a local park or hall.
Costing will be approx $100 for 3 hours (5-10 children in a group). I plan to have one trained teacher for each group to scaffold learning.
Parents will receive information about the workshop, a report of what their child's group has achieved, laminated copies of the games and activities to practise at home and access to a blog where they can find strategies and fun ways to engage their children with homework.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
