I just joined the forum today after browsing for a few days, and hope that I can not only learn a great deal, but ultimately contribute something as well.
I noticed there were already a few Aussie's on here so hopefully I won't taint their already stellar reputations
A bit of background on me - I'm self employed and have a small but reasonably successful business. However, it consumes most of my time and has done for the past 15 years. Being a bit of a control freak, I have trouble letting go and have managed to convince myself that "no one can ever do it quite as well as I can". This of course is BS, and I'm steadily working towards removing myself from the business and finding someone to run it for me. So in that respect, I have a plan and am taking action daily towards it.
Like most Aussies, I'm also obsessed with real estate (it's almost a sickness over here). Whilst I have a small portfolio of investment property, I'd like to be doing more. That is, getting better returns out of our existing property and using our equity to grow our portfolio.
Having recently read MJ's book (which led me to here), I've also become much more aware of the multitude of business opportunities out there and put simply, I just can't sit back and watch anymore. Or to put it in some very Aussie vernacular . . . . "I need to pull my finger out and start doing"
Ultimately, my vision is to have our existing business, our real estate investments and a new business venture, generate enough passive income so that my wife and I can have the freedom to travel, help our family and friends and 'work' when we choose to.
So I figured it would be an important step to surround myself with like minded people on this forum. Hopefully I can gain some great insight from all of the contributors here, but I also hope I can make a positive contribution myself.
