Did you sign a bullshit non compete agreement with an employer?
Did your wife tell you she doesn’t like your business idea?
Did you get told by a fat lady with green hair at the government office that you “can’t do it that way”?
Did a payment processor hold you hostage by keeping all of your customer payment methods on file hidden so you couldn’t take them to another processor?
I just got done reading a post 2 minutes ago about how a guy “isn’t legally allowed to take on more clients because they signed an exclusivity agreement with a client”. What total garbage.
I see it ALL the time on here.
Especially with newbies.
You let EVERYTHING stop you.
EVERYTHING is an insurmountable hurdle.
You take EVERYTHING at face value.
You NEVER break a single rule.
You just tuck your tail between your legs and waddle away all sad, saying “I tried, but XYZ happened and golly, that stopped me dead in my tracks”.
It blows my mind. I cannot even fathom allowing myself to be cockblocked over something so trivial.
I swear, I see problems stop other people dead in their tracks that happen to me on a weekly basis that don’t cause a single hiccup for us.
If you want to succeed, you actually need to want to succeed. If you are going to let tiny insignificant setbacks sideswipe you, you never wanted it anyways.
I don’t know what to call this skill. Resourcefulness? It’s not that. Is it persistence? Not really…
It’s something I can only describe as unyielding autonomy.
I’m going to get this shit done. I don’t care if I have to call back to get a more agreeable agent. I don’t care if I have to use Jedi mind tricks to word it perfectly so I’m technically not in violation of whatever it is you’re trying to stop me from doing. I do not care. I have no F*cks to give. I will get this done.
So much of this ability is attributed to just not caring.
When you are a little kid, you hear about this big bad “permanent record”. You believe that if you step out of line, you will get hauled away in a cop car, and you won’t be employable anymore.
When in reality, it was all bullshit. All an empty threat.
If you were a teenager you could’ve smoked crack in the middle of class and punched your teacher in the face and you would actually have been fine. They would’ve yelled. You would be kicked out of the school. A cop would be really disappointed with you. A whole lot of threats and “talking to”, and then you’d be fine.
You grew up, and realized the permanent record was bullshit, but you still fell for the adult version of it.
You’re so afraid of breaking any rules, when in reality everyone who succeeds says “F*ck off” to the rules.
Just stop caring. Nobody’s coming after you.
You aren’t getting sued by your previous employer for violating a non compete. Put the LLC in your wife’s name or something.
“But wouldn’t that be unwise and she owns the business in the case of a separation”
Another BS hurdle, toss the customers into a new LLC you whipped up when it started getting any traction and you don’t need to hide from your previous employer. You don’t even need to hide they don’t care anyways. It’s a BS deterrent against cowards and it works.
Every time I see a post on here talking about a hurdle that’s stopping you, I roll my eyes and imagine you wearing a big adult diaper looking like a big baby.
Incoming comments saying “bb..bbbbut breaking the law is immoral and so is dishonesty”. (I imagine all of you talking like Steve Urkel when you say that). I’m not saying that.
Here’s what I’m saying.
Your obstacles are BULLSHIT.
If other people can succeed, you can succeed to.
You should be embarrassed to let anything short of a nuclear explosion derail your efforts.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
There are some people who cannot be helped.
And there are some people who cannot be stopped.
Which one are you?
Did your wife tell you she doesn’t like your business idea?
