I, like most people in the development stage, am having a spot of trouble defining a targeted marketing strategy for my service. I have to cater to two different sets of users in two different ways (it's lead generation: gotta get leads AND convince people to buy leads).
Currently, I'm doing LinkedIn marketing but I haven't gotten anything from people besides reciprocating Facebook likes. I've gotten some RSS feed subscriptions from Reddit and Digg and I get a small, but steady, amount of traffic per day. I haven't started PPC but I will soon. I'm currently ranked for some really irrelevant keywords... stupid Google. Essentially I'm all over the place and I need to focus a bit more: problem is, I haven't really had results with any of this. I have yet to do truly direct marketing, so I'm going to get on that as soon as I have a good sales pitch.
I understand that everyone goes through this in the start-up phase, so I was wondering: how long did it take you to develop your marketing strategies?
