OK, if you haven't read my profile here then you should as it tells you a bit about me and my product YQ but seriously I feel like many others that the idea of a progress thread is something that will help not just me (because of your comments that I hope are made) but others, and like other really good progress threads hopefully they will also be inspirational as to what can be done.
So where are we - it's probably best to start with that in a literal sense. We (I) am on a small Greek Island with an economy that relies on Tourism and Agriculture (basically over 80% of the island GDP). Jobs - ummmmmm what jobs (remember Greece is not exactly the most flourishing national economy - a great read in that (and other economic/political things) is Adults in the Room by Yanis Varoufakis the Greek economist, academic and politician, who served as the Greek Minister of Finance from January to July 2015, when he resigned.
In summer we have 1000's tourists in winter my village has a population of say 50 people (yep) so a really massive big market for something
Anyhow I digress ... fortunately thanks to a guy named Tim (from my home country the UK), along with you we have access to something wonderful, the WWW and like many the WWW provides a route to access markets that only 20-25 years ago were unavailable to us. Remember Facebook was launched on February 4, 2004 - and that is ONLY 12 years ago. We now have a generation who never know anything other than Facebook, Google, Email WhatsApp etc... Whereas take me - I was in my mid to late 30's when this all started, my-o-my what a revolution.
Opps more digression (must be an age thing); where were we - Oh, yes on a small Greek Island and about to start a journey that will turn an idea through an MVP to a mainstream product. A big ask with all the resources we have available to us on the island, but again via the WWW
So the idea/product - Wherever you are in the world - all doctors are looking to increase their time available for patient care whilst in many countries that is set against a backdrop of tightening budgets and targets that relate to specific actions. OK different countries have differing methods for delivering healthcare - e.g. in the UK there is the National health Service where a patient is registered with a specific surgery, there you may be 'known', but in others e.g. Greece you are not registered with any specific surgery/doctor, you just turn up and wait to be treated. Go back to the UK and this would relate to what they call a 'drop in' clinic.
The first thing any doctor will do is 'grab' your medical history as this is obviously highly important, easier if you are a 'known' patient but in a drop in ... getting this information can take time and tie up clinical staff decreasing the time available for patient care.
Solution 'YQ' (and thing about the name - YQ = why queue).
YQ is a digital real time SaaS (Software as a Service) virtual reception that delivers a cost benefit to healthcare professionals - making patient check-ins more efficient, increasing time available for patient care & satisfaction. YQ quickly obtains all the relevant information needed from a patient prior to consultation.
Using YQ Patients check-in then simply follow "ATM" style steps (routes) for the medical attention they need.
YQ starts by obtaining the basic patient details - name and age. Then as the patient travels their YQ route they click buttons to answer "YQ prompts".
The answers to the "YQ prompts" are generated from YQ's internal (and maintained) database which contains over 35,000 unique branded and generic prescription drug names*, over 5000 known medical conditions together with lists of known allergies, vaccinations and health checks.
Simple, easy to use - NO over design and above all inexpensive when compared to virtually all 'professional' healthcare products out there.
* All prescription drugs listed within YQ are authorised for use by either the FDA, NICE or the EMA and updated on a monthly basis.
So OK, you've got a basic idea of the product what about 'my route' ....
I have created the MVP and introduced it to my local Health Clinic and importantly I have seen it in action - there's a lot more to YQ than you've read above. But that may be another story ...
Now I have an MVP into a real life clinic I will be visiting them every few days (hey it's a nice ride along the coast in the sun and the motor bike needs the action - so why not getting feedback. To date it has been positive comments like 'what a really useful tool' were not uncommon when we started talking.
The idea then (next week hopefully) is to take (well open up and demonstrate) the MVP to the islands hospital in the capital to all the relevant parties (doctors) there. After that spread the word via the islands doctors to the many Private Doctors (and we have a lot here) and on to other islands.
All of this is being done with a 'zero' budget but a massive imagination budget and one with the knowledge that it's not all about 'metrics' and 'measurements' that seem needed in some markets.
To understand that you will need to read my growth strategy and boy I'm sure your all; going to say/shout 'what - never', but then after a bit of reflection you might understand how it would make sense. To give you a clue it involves creating good/well paid jobs for the under 25's (most of which are un-employed here in Greece) and ensuring that YQ will always be based here on 'my' island as it will be able to prove a few year round decent jobs - and they are badly needed.
