Hey Y'all.
I just recently joined after hearing about and purchasing "The Book." I am about 3/4 through the book, and it has been a very great read so far. The more I read, the more times I see something that makes me say, "See! I've been trying to tell people that all along, but everyone thinks I'm crazy!"
Anyway, about me:
I have been free from the modern day slavery known as a job since 2005. I initially started my own businesses when I was 14, simply because I wanted to make money to get music equipment, but was too young to get a job.
So I taught myself how to build basic websites and began coding them for local clients until I got the equipment I was looking for
By the time I was 17 I had a $80k-100k studio in the basement of my parent's house, funded by my web designing and various other miscellaneous business ventures I tried.
Ever since I was able to comprehend at around age 4 or 5, I've always desired to one day get the same car that MJ wanted, and got...The LAMBO!
So after graduating high school early, I skipped college and went to work. I slaved for a while in retail, then a factory, while I began experimenting with more business ideas.
Then, I wound up in sales, which was a big turning point.
I sold alarms for ADT, (at this time, age 18) and I loved what it did for me. I got pretty good at it, and would many times go and sell for 1 week, make enough money to get me through basically the rest of the month ($1500 to $3000 for a young 18 year old is enough), and then basically spend the rest of the month at home working on business ideas.
I had some weeks where I would earn close to $3,000 in 1 week, at 18-19 years old. Some say that I should have did that for the entire month, but I just wanted to spend the rest of the month working on my business ideas.
ADT was not going to get me a Lamborghini, but it did allow me the freedom I was looking for to pursue wealth.

Next job after that, and last job as at MetLife, which I loved for the same reasons.
(Note: When I say "loved," I don't actually mean that I "loved" them, I just loved that I could work just enough to buy myself a ton of time to work on my own entrepreneurial goals. I actually hated the idea of working jobs all my life all-together, but that's another story.)
I must admit, that I really did kind of slack off on these jobs, but they gave me exactly what I was after for the time: The ability to earn income based on my own performance, and plenty of free time to work on my ideas.
Well, not even a year into working at MetLife, one of my websites started to earn enough to take care of a young 19 year old kid with no wife and no kids...so I quit my job and dove in full-time.
What's funny is, at the time I had planned on taking a side gig delivering pizzas for tips or something like that, just to have even more free time to work on my business, but before I knew it, another year passed and I hit the $100k per year mark with my website by age 22.
My website and I got featured on SecretsToTheirSuccess.com, I had built up a nice nest-egg of money, had my own office, a few overseas employees, and I bought myself a new Mercedes at age 22.
The funny thing is, I had enough money to pay it off in cash, but everyone was so gung-ho about "building your credit." Well, as I later would learn, cash is best for cars, but that is an entirely different story.
Anyway, fast forward again...
So after a few years of floating high, I ran into big problems. The problems began when I invested $15k into trying to build the "next big thing" by hiring programmers without doing the right type of due-dilligence.
Why didn't I do that? Simple. It was because the group was referred to me by someone I trusted....whom I had never met....yea, I know :|
Anyway, after the beta version of that turned out terrible and the programmers didn't really know what they were doing, I recovered.
Then I learned how to trade forex, and actually thought I did pretty well. The problem came when I wanted to also trade futures, and employed the help of a "30 year veteran" trader, who was really nothing more than a broker, to manage my futures account.
After proceeding to give away everything I made in forex to the futures market via this veteran broker guy, I took the remaining funds out of the futures account and put it back into my forex account to recoup.
Cool, recovered.
But this is where the real problems came.
My core business, got severely attacked by "credit card fraud," although I wonder if it was actually fraud.
You see, sometimes I would get people who would purchase products from my site with legitimate credit cards, and then the next day they'd call their card issuing bank and say that they didn't authorize the purchase. :|
While some were actually stolen cards, some were not. Either way, I had to pay the money back, plus "fraud fees" as well as the nsf fees accumulated from my bank when my outgoing payments were returned as a result of all this.
These things accumulated, tons of them. It got so bad that not only did I lose most of the money I had, but then my merchant account got shut down.
On top of that, all of the money that I had in reserves got eaten by even more fraud.
Well, you know how the story goes from here...It all comes crashing down.
So I decided that I needed to pick a better market, that had higher margins, less children, and a market that wasn't full of criminals, LOL.
I started building more websites, trying new things, and trying to get back on track.
Situations like that which I went through help make you tougher, and help you become more creative.
The ideas, knowledge, and wisdom that I have now, at the age of 25, are as a result of those events.
Yes, I lost just about everything, but the education that I got in return for it has been more valuable than what I could ever get in college.
I am very, very grateful for the way things happened, because of what they have done for my mind, heart, spirit, and determination. I also got a wonderful girl who believes in me, has seen me at my worst, yet still believes in me, and therefore I won't have to wonder if she is there for me or for the money when I reach the world of "rich."
I currently am working on some great ideas while building the set of web businesses that I have already developed. I have no job, as all of my bills, living expenses, apartment and investments are funded from my online businesses.
For that I am extremely grateful.
Am I rich? Not yet, but it is coming fast, now that MJ's book confirms that I am indeed still on the fastlane.
I've left out a bunch of details, because this was only supposed to be an introduction. Sorry it turned out to be a short novel instead!
Just keep your ears open, because next time you hear that rumbling Lambo behind you, it just might be me
