How guys!

First of all, a THANK YOU to MJ DE MARCO and your book: The Fast Lane Millionaire. Which got me to move from France (Toulouse), to Tampa (Florida) and seek entrepreneurial opportunities that I hadn't imagined before.

My goal is to become a "self-help" author in the zen/buddhism field. I have studied 100s of books in the field and get positive feedback on Facebook, yet I would like to test my marketplace with a book I have in mind.

My challenge:

- How can I pretest a book idea and see if people are willing to pay for my product?

Thank you in advance!

Tony

The best way is to publish a cheat sheet in -zon, this way you get real data for your chosen book/title/category.

You're absolutely right for pretesting your idea first - then making the book!

There are tons of ways, besides the cheat sheet method, here are a few more:

Believe it or don't I'm going to do this as a 7 day challenge and publish the winner's cheat sheet on my website -BUT- I'm in the middle of a book launch and it will have to wait til after June. Otherwise you can get a crap ton of resources to start today at my blog (see my link in profile.)

Tony!
You should publish something for free first.

It can be anything, a cheat sheet - which is just a summary of your book with the main points
A character synopsis
A free first chapter
etc etc

this free book or material points to your full book and a sign-up form.

Also, since you publish this in amazon you get real time data:
How many downloads did your cheat sheet get?
If you don't get enough people taking your offer in the book, you can confidently say people aren't interested and it's not worth it to make the big book. Or you got the cover wrong, or the title etc.
You can change the keywords and title of your cheat sheet, and see what happens on the actually platform.

I did this with my "How To Convert" book.
First it was called "Publish your lead magnet on amazon" - subtitle: "How to convert pdf to kindle"
It got about 20 downloads a day
Then I switched the title and sub-title - boom - it got 60 downloads a day.
So the title choice was obvious after this.

The point is to use a free material to test, and validate your idea.
You have to set realistic goals for yourself and see what makes sense.

For example, in the non-fictin realm, if you publish a cheat sheet, and don't get 20 new subscribers for you offer in the book, then I consider it "failed" and not worth it to make the big book.

Buy domain

Build landing page with www.unbounce.com

Drive targeted traffic using Google/Bing/Facebook/Reddit

FIRST OF ALL: THANKS!

Is Unbounce better than Lander or Instapage?

When you say: "drive targetted traffic"... I have no idea where to go or start. Any Youtube videos or free materials that would allow me to go straight to the point on that topic?

Thank you again.
