Assuming this is 100% dictated by the business (as in: without the YouTube business, you wouldn't want to move there) I wouldn't move to another country just to be able to potentially grow a business.

I wouldn't prioritize business over my lifestyle.

But that's me.

Financially, it also seems to make little sense if you're going to pay way higher taxes. You'll be starting off $40k/year in the hole. That's a bad position to be in.

Also, as you pointed out, you have no control over YouTube. What happens if you move and they ban your channel?

Two alternative solutions:
  • Create content that you can film in Singapore and start another channel about that.
  • Instead of moving to Japan, go there on business trips. How many videos could you shoot in, say, two weeks? Probably enough to last you a few months?

Anime merchandise related unboxing videos over the last 5 to 6 years. It all started with a commitment of making one video a week and we've persisted since 2017. During the lifetime of the channel, we've accumulated 20 million views, 67.2K subscribers and made $46K USD in adsense.

Is there more to the business or is it mainly just adsense?

This looks to be less than $1,000 a month in revenue.

I think you would want to look at ways to be making a lot more out of this channel to justify a move.

I’d start by taking a 2-3 weeks holiday in Japan.

While you’re there spend lots of time filming content for your channel.

If you’re smart about it you can shoot content for 3 months at least.

Break even, use money to repeat.

No need to move.

It can sound inconvenient if you look at it from a grinding perspective. But if you’re realising you’re going on holiday and getting paid for it, it starts to sound better doesn’t it?

If it works out, eventually the content you’re shooting during holiday will pay for it and bring in extra income.

If not, at least you’ve not relocated to another country.

Edit : I see @MTF suggested exactly the same thing.
Well, you cannot get a babysitter and instead choose to move the whole family?

What MTF and I suggested is the best option you have. Get a babysitter.

Also, since it’s a business trip most can be written off. Forgot about that.
Sounds like a true adventure.
