Hello Everybody from beautiful Cologne!

After reading the book TMF in 2 days I needed to join the forum also.

Working for 2 years from now as a sales engineer and taking care of the Middle East, North Africa and Western Europe I´m already sick of this 9-5 and 5-2 trade and want to escape from it.

As MJ said, freedom is when you don´t wake up with an alarm clock, I have the burning desire to change my status quo.

Right now I´m filtering all the old threads in this great forum which could be adapted as a business here.

Also I´m looking forward to meeting new people and making good contacts.

Was just in Berlin last week for a few days. Germany seems like a great place for internet marketing as it doesnt seem as competitive as English markets.

Tried selling leads to dentists in Berlin, from a lead capture site I setup a year ago and it was doing well until Google started going crazy with their ranking updates. But there is still a lot of money to be made in selling local dental leads. You just have to work out a system for getting them.

Can I ask you how the lead business worked?

1 Visitor comes on your site.
2 Books appointment with dentist.
3 You send appointment to same dentist.
4 Visitor shows up for appointment.
5 Dentist confirms appointment to you and pays you for lead.

Or:

1 Visitor comes on your site.
2 Books appointment with dentist.
3 You get paid by dentist.
4 Visitor most of times shows up for appointment, sometimes not.

In other words, who took the risk of no show by the client and did the dentist pay in advance or did they pay on invoice?

Hey thanks for the welcome!

I tried it two ways.

I worked with a German speaking partner and we had a typical lead capture type site setup, like this:

And used a form plugin that sent us the messages and then forwarded it to them, as well as a e-phone number from somewhere like twilio, that we could use to track phone calls as they were forwarded to the dentists number.

We just charged a really reasonable price per lead, so they were still making plenty of money from the leads that made appointments compared to the ones that didnt. But this did end up being a little hokey, so we just started renting the sites out that were ranking in the top 3 for big keywords that I could show decent traffic stats for.

We would put their phone number on the site and set the form to go to their email, and they paid us a flat rental fee monthly.

Not sure how to do something like this now though. The traffic was just so cheap, easy and targeted back in the easy SEO days.
