Hi guys,
so I've been lurking this forum for a while now, yet I haven't made a post.
I'm currently in my 5th month of running my own business. It's Slowlane at the moment, more a job I created for myself rather than a business.
I'm a mobile detailer, so I go to people's houses or offices, or sometimes they come to me, and I detail their cars for them. I do everything, from basic hand wash and wax, full paint restoration (swirl mark removal, oxidation etc.), interior detailing and carpet extraction.

My first 5 months have gone well, better than I had hoped. My goal was to have at least 1 customer per month in my first year of business, based of research and needs analysis. So far I have had 17 clients, 3 of which brought me more than one job, in 5 months.
It is my aim that once the business is profitable enough I will take on an employee or two, and mostly deal with the marketing/booking side of things while they do most of the hard labour. I would still like to do some detailing though when I can, as I enjoy the work.
I currently have hit a minor slow point, as its the middle of winter here in Australia, and the need for detailing is slowed. At the moment most of my jobs are pre-sales or post-purchase. It's still good but I'm going on a 6 week backpacking adventure through Burma (Myanmar) in November so need to rack up more cash.
Does anyone have any awesome marketing ideas? Currently I:
- Am listed on most online small business listings for my area, as well as Yelp!, Google+ etc.
- Market mostly through FaceBook groups
- Have $75 worth of AdWords and $50 worth of FaceBook ads coupons
- Have ~200 business cards
I'm contemplating having stickers made for my personal car, but at the moment I'm struggling for marketing ideas. Any help would be great.
