Here are three guidelines that I think prove useful in every day management and in business
I think this can be applied to many levels of business and not just in the call center sales industry that I am now so here are my 3 guidelines:
1) Know your numbers
Always know your numbers. You need to know where you're at and where you've been which can help you make a better prediction about where you're going. Identify trends and look for your areas of weakness and opportunity. This will help steer the ship and you can change course if it's headed in the wrong direction.
2) Manage by personality
You have to know your people. You have to know your people's strengths and weaknesses. More than that, you have to learn what motivates them. Learn what is the best way to communicate with them and more importantly what will get your team motivated and energized.
3) Drive the behavior
I mentioned that you should know your numbers but don't get so obsessed over them that you forget about what matters. The numbers are a reflection of the past, they tell you what's already happened. You need to focus on what will get you to your goals. If you focus entirely on the behaviors needed that are successful then the numbers naturally take care of themselves and fall into place.
