To make extra money Ive always done freelance work on sites like Elance.com. Ive noticed that many of the contractors who bid out for jobs are an actual company or a team, not just an individual. Obviously its hard to compete with these "teams" as they provide expertise in a variety of areas.
I want to put together a local team of independent contractors with a diverse skill (although trying to keep it to just marketers) who could bid out for a wide variety of jobs and possibly some local gigs as well. I had first looked into what it would take to assemble a team overseas, but was told by numerous people that the language barrier and time it took to find the right people would make it tough to get into. I also like the fact that I could meet up and discuss contracts, problems, etc face to face. I know this isnt a novel approach, but has anyone had experience with this or advice? Ive placed an ad on Craigslist so Ill be interested to see the response I get. Also I understand this is simply a "marketing agency", but I wasnt sure if the operations would be considered different if it was comprised of independent contractors and we didnt have an official office building.
