First thing I would is buy a few things on eBay and get your feedback up to above 10 @100% Most buyers don't take the time to check whether your feedback is for buying or selling. They just want to see that 100% next to your seller name. Once you have that you should be able to charge a little below your competition and still get the sales.@Ecom man One of my product listed on ebay and amazon. Margin is very small at around $3-$4. I've priced the product at $7.95 but didn't get much interest. I decreased the price to $6.75 and got 4 sales (3 yesterday). My competitors are selling at roughly $9. Keep in mind that I have a new Ebay account with no reviews.
1. How long do you give to see if the product is selling like hot cakes? Obviously, 4 in the past 3 days is not hot cakes. If you put a product on ebay, how many buyers would you get in a day?
2. Amazon Buy It Box. How important is this? I feel that people do not want to buy from me because I don't have it on my ad.
I will normally test a product amount of 10-20 items and see how long it takes those to sell. Whether the product is worth selling is really up to you to decide. If you sell 3 per day that 90 per month. At $4 profit each that is $360 a month. Is the work you are doing worth the $360 a month? You have to decide that.
I don't necessarily look for amount of sales I look at profit amounts. I normally won't start carrying the product regularly unless it is bringing in $1,000 a month profit. That's my personally preference right now but I know when I was starting $360 a month would have been huge!!!
I'm not sure what you are referring to with the Amazon buy box.
