Yeah we've experimented with it, such as a '12 week program', but with our sales model, we know that 12 weeks isn't enough for a lot of these people to get to their dream weight - and for some people, they only need a month (but end up staying longer because they feel great on the program). Our conversion rate is much much higher offering a weekly membership. We actually started with 12 week programs, and switched to this as it's way more successful. We're weighing up giving a discounted option to buy a 'bulk package of 12 weeks' or something, but it's a bit frustrating from a technical standpoint to implement, and may give no benefit.
We do a $1 trial, but we do it later in the email marketing funnel (about a week in, if they haven't bought, I think it's Email #3 in our sequence after our lead magnet). The thing is, these people have a way lower CLV (it's about 60% of our normal CLV), they make up maybe 20% of our new members, and we're considering just doing a different offer to them.
As for supplements, we're starting with protein, and it's a part of most of their meal plans, and clients are always asking us 'which protein should I buy', so we got a huge response in our members Facebook Group saying they would much prefer to just buy off us. To kick it off we're giving away 10x 1kg bags, so that will get us a bunch of reviews, we expect it to go really well.
I guess our audience trust us a lot now, they see we get really good results (some are really unbelievable), and because of our facebook members group, they all get to interact and it really backs up the social proof.
I guess you could do the OTO upsell to "bulk package" using SamCart as I know others are having great success using this for cart checkout and OTO's
Ever think about or try to introduce some sort of TripWire to the funnel? Don't know what your lead magnet is or how exactly you capture emails but what if you made your "How many calories?" questionnaire a tripwire for $1-7? Make it a longer program with some tips/exercises? Then upsell it during the funnel? THEN sell the core offer of coaching? Just a thought.
I just assumed with the weekly charges that they were more of a headache technically with paypal and processing CC#s than it was worth.
Glad its actually the opposite!
