Howdy,
I'm seeking some 'What would you do if you were in my shoes' opinions.
I right now have 4 options of cities where I can live. For almost a year now, I've been living in Western Canada. For a variety of reasons, it's just not for me.
Option 1) Stay here and build my business (my mother is also in this city). Move elsewhere once my business is profitable.
Pros: Not much. Primarily english speaking. A lot of 'oil money' sloshing around.
Cons: Lack of culture/diversity. Not much to do. Not many friends.
Option 2) Move back home to Montreal, attend school while building my business
Pros: The vast majority of my friends and family live there. Extremely diverse and multicultural. Lived there for 18 years. School is inexpensive ($115/semester)
Cons: Not many.
Option 3) Move to Phoenix and open a 'fastlane' dorm/house while building my business. A few of us have been talking about this. Only problem is that I'm a canadian citizen, and would need to be working in the states. (So I would need to attain a visa of some sort). This would be my first choice, but the laws seem to be so complicated, I'm having trouble figuring out how I would manage this)
^ If ANYONE has any knowledge on how a foreigner can get a visa to live/work in the USA in a relatively short amount of time (6 months - 1 year) let me know please!!!!!
Pros: Pretty much everything is a pro with this one.
Cons: HOW DO CAN I MAKE THIS HAPPEN?? (visa/permit-wise). Otherwise, no cons.
Option 4) Move to Stuart, Florida and build my business.
Pros: Weather. Live in an extremely wealthy area. (yachts in the backyards, the whole shebang.)
Cons: No friends. Only one family member there. Extremely small city. Visa issue again.
At all of these locations (exception of Phoenix), I already have a guaranteed place to stay.
I look forward to any responses! I'll also answer any questions to help clarify my situation.
Thanks :smug2:
