How about creating video SOPs (standard operating procedures)? I love how simple it is to shoot a quick video explaining how to do jobs that repeat often. It will both help when trying to maintain the business until the new owner comes (if you make these videos step-by-step, your spouse/somebody else will probably be able to follow them) or as an additional valuable asset for the new owner (SOPs save a LOT of time).
As for this:
I have a slightly different opinion. I think we DO owe something to our parents. For instance, I owe my parents that I could grow up in a safe neighborhood, that I always had food on the plate, that they tried (granted, not always successfully but still) supporting my goals even when they were against their views (9 to 5 life vs entrepreneurship). IMO they DID create a lot of value for me (both financially and in intangible sense), and I haven't necessarily paid it back by just "existing." In this sense, I owe them for their sacrifices. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't get to enjoy this beautiful world.
Maybe I'm different than you, but I think that if you had a happy (or relatively happy) childhood and your parents took care of you for at least 18-21 years, it's only fair to take care of them and express your gratitude monetarily (especially if they're older and are no longer able to work as much as when they were young or have more bills to pay).
Now as for other family members who didn't care about you... Obviously I wouldn't give them a dime.

No kidding? You're dad thought that you owed him?
That's crazy!
