Hi Everyone,
My name is Brian. I am currently an Instructor and PhD student in Finance/Accounting at a US business school, soon to be a professor (God willing). Although my job is incredibly fulfilling and when I graduate should also be well-paying, I decided to join the fastlane forum for two reasons.
1) I am very familiar with how financial firms/etc work, but I thought it would be very helpful for my students to have a professor that had also started and ran a business himself - from the ground up.
2) My Wife and I were watching Shark Tank one night, and the switch flipped in her mind that she wanted to be an entrepreneur and provide value to people's lives in this way. Her and I both have been reading this forums for several months and have begun the fastlane process. Using the information in this forum, @MJ DeMarco's book, as well as some other resources my Wife and I have started a business together. We have identified a niche, and now we are in the process of testing our product.
Essentially for me and my Wife being in the fastlane is not about the money as much as it is trying to provide value to other people's lives.
Thanks to everyone for all the valuable posts and insight you provide. Thanks especially to @Get Right for his post and PM's encouraging me to become active on the forums.
This post is identical to an introduction post I did on the insider's forum. To those off you that aren't insiders I strongly recommend you do it. It is well, well worth it.
