Why?
And I'm not trying to be rude or sarcastic here. But what is not honorable about flipping burgers at 25 or even 55? You're working (for your money) and contributing to society. Sure, it may not be much, but I've always believed it's better to do something (work at a fast food joint) than to do absolutely nothing. Everyone can contribute, even the "disabled."
1. Anyone can do it, illegal immigrants, high school drop outs, druggies (besides mentally disabled people, and even then SOME can do it) Police officers, well it's different for them, you have to have a clean record, you have to have at least a 2 yr associate degree nowadays, you have to be healthy, pass tests. I want to surround myself with people who are more educated, more successful, and such.
I rather someone who deserves to be a burger flipper get the job than me... why take a good job from someone else?
and I wouldn't be ashamed of being a police officer, I would be proud of that career, and I can't say that for being a fast food worker. If I have to make a living, I need to be proud of it. What makes me proud is different from other people though, and I accept that. If you're proud of being a fast food worker than great, can I have fries with that?
2. It usually means someone has little aspiration to do much with their lives (besides people who use this as a side job for survival, fuel for fastlane, what not...) IN the publishing industry, the chances of a best selling book is slim to none, so I can't put all my eggs in one basket. I know my weaknesses as a human being, and this is probably the wisest decision for me.
3. You learn little skills if you are doing the same job year after year./// If I have to do a career, I want to learn a lot of skills I could use that will help me in everyday life. If there were an anarchy, or something, I need to learn to survive. If I was writing a book about an anarchy I could use it. I want to live fast. I want a fun exciting career. I don't want to be put to the same task day by day. Best slowlane career for me in my opinion.
4. Brain becomes mud sometimes, and you lose motivation sometimes to strive for more by getting caught up in the pay check to pay check mentality. This doesn't happen all the time, but I talk to enough people in the food industry to know a lot of people given up on the goals./// Can happen to police officers too, but at least there's a pension, at least you're making more money.
5. I wasn't born to be a fast food worker. In other words, I think I'm too good for this occupation, and I am not ashamed to admit that. I'm too old to serve people in my opinion (turning 21 soon). I need the money too. I can't hop from one house to another house, hoping not to pay rent. I need to get my life straighten out, and not waste time. I sure heck not going to be a millionaire tomorrow. Or even next year.
6. Very few men want to marry a fast food worker if you have nothing else to rely on (same for women marrying fast food workers....) People are materialistic, and I wouldn't marry a fast food worker, I don't expect the same of my spouse. Oh, I know I can get an old man who will be fine I'm a fast food worker *been there done that*, but I don't want an old man of a boyfriend. I don't want a young loser either... AND YES I consider men working at a fast food joint as a loser at about the age of 25, give or take a year. Unless they can prove otherwise. I date the ugly doctor before a handsome McJob worker, but I rather have a handsome 50k guy than an ugly 200k doctor, or supermodel 15 k McJob worker.
7. As a police officer you have to make sure you're healthy, and being healthy is important. It doesn't matter if you're 280 lbs as a fast food worker, but to me I put health as top priority. It fits with my goals.
BIG ONE....
8. I need to think about my future. Why do people go to college on this forum, when they can JUST focus on the fastlane? I was thinking about just dropping out of college a few months ago, and focus on writing novels. I can do both at the same time. You see all these college threads pop up here... it's because the fastlane is not guaranteed. I am going to do whatever it takes to be a millionaire. I'm working on it. I don't care if it means I write 10-20-30 novels, or make businesses or something. One day I will be there. But I don't want to be struggling to get there. I don't want every pay check to vanish. No one here is going to help me in life, or anyone in the real world, I have to help myself. I have to be responsible and accountable for my actions. If I am 25 years old working at McDonald then I can't complain about it, I have to blame myself. If it were so easy to be a millionaire, then I would had been one a long time ago. I need back up plans.
9. Who does burger flipping as a calling? The only reason is to survive. Or else you quit, right? I am not in survival mode right now, I have enough money to support myself through a year of college and become an officer.
10. I rather be homeless, reading at the library, than burger flip.
oh and money makes a huge difference between the two..
and I don't like police officers in general, but being one is different. (evil laugh)
BUT THESE ARE MY OPINIONS.
You can disagreed though with everything. I don't mind. I don't care if people become a fast food worker as the reason of their existence.
