Every patent attorney I have ever talked to is just like that. Everything you do is wrong, everything you ask gets way more than you wanted. All questions make you feel like you should have a F*cking legal team.

Whatever.

I just did most of my own research and concluded that I would file a provisional with what I have and it would buy me 12 months to figure out if it is going to make me money. The provisional doesn't protect you but it does establish the earlier filing date. Which means that once the patent issues anyone who violated the provisional is now open season. That was good enough for me.
