I've been a software engineer for nearly 5 years. I was let go last August. I've been taking some time off and reflecting. So far, I've had some hustles, and the one I stuck with most has made my 250 USD over a year (advanced soccer techniques ebook). Honestly, I don't really see myself making a ton of money off of it right now, though the corresponding youtube channel has steadily grown to 2K+ subscribers without putting any content for 6 months when it was around 1.5K. If it somehow blows up and big clubs or some rich kid's dad want to hire me, I can go back to it. Also have some money in some speculative investments, which I have done my homework on and think have the potential to 10x, or at least not lose me any money.
Anyways, I hear that Cloud Computing or ETL specialists make 200K+ in Canada, even more in the US. I'm currently doing Azure certification since I have time, it's relatively cheap, and think it would be great on my resume. But, at the same time, I'm wondering if I could build a clientale, or offer my skills as a consultant to companies looking for cloud or etl solutions.
Maybe this isn't competely in the fast lane, but maybe it's in between.
