"The greatest instrument that you will ever own is your body"
Hey what's up guys!
In this post I am going to explain how your body, health, and fitness are the greatest challenge in life and how conquering them is the ultimate success. I will use facts and speculation, as well as personal experiences to prove my point!
About Me:
Some of you have followed my previous posts, including my Intro or Nootropics thread where I described some personal information and logistics about myself.
Pertinent Information for this post:
So about halfway through the school year 10th grade I decided that I didn't want to be "chubby" anymore. I was never "fat" per say, I always played soccer and basketball, but I had excess fat on my chest and face, particularly around my waist that I despised. I knew that I wouldn't be able to stick with this if I automatically adjusted my diet and exercise in one big sweep. I decided to take small steps in the beginning (For those of you who have seen Anger Management they call them "Baby Steps").
Initially I started eating less, I would not eat lunch for a while, and yes this is unhealthy and I wouldn't recommend it, but it was the first step I needed to get rolling. For about a week I was a little hungrier but then my body adjusted and I no longer had the hunger (Still doesn't make it healthy). I was able to comfortably live off of 2 meals a day, and it was just my normal routine. I was then adjusted to this so I took another step and stopped drinking soda - It is said that if you drink one soda per day you will accumulate 14 pounds after one year, just from that one soda - not worth it at all in my opinion and I didn't love soda that much anyways, so I cut that out. After that it was no more chips or anything super salty/sugary. Then I added in more healthy things like fruits, vegetables, trail mix, etc. I was now accustomed to a healthy diet, I no longer ate as many unhealthy foods, and instead was eating less overall and when I was eating everything was more nutritional. So I began to lose weight at this time (Near the end of 10th grade) and I was also growing taller.
Now that my diet was in place I began to exercise more frequently, it was Spring and the weather is nice so I started playing soccer 4 times a week for 2 hours each session. This helped tremendously and not only was I burning fat but I was also getting into better cardiovascular shape, I could now run a few miles without breathing heavily, it was amazing! At this point I began to really notice the changes and loved it, which got me addicted to exercising and sticking with my diet. I continued this throughout the summer and come junior year I was way slimmed down, and very tall.
Fast forward through my concussion and I began lifting weights, I started small as usual with just the same routine daily, and then upped it until now I am doing grueling workouts 5 days a week. Because I built up to the "grand finale" I won't quit, I am accustomed to this lifestyle and by easing into it I adjusted myself. Now I am still losing weight, I lift regularly, run daily, and play soccer 3 days a week. Each day I feel myself getting stronger and more fit, and everything fits together perfectly now. I am to the point where I am now focusing on more specific things - a 6 pack, toned biceps and triceps, etc.
Define Conquer
This will be different from person to person, for me it was to maintain a weight of under 165 (at my current height), I also want a 6-Pack, and to be able to walk around with my shirt off and not feel uncomfortable or subconscious about my body. They may seem trivial, but these are my goals and they are what drive me to keep working, this is what “conquer” means to me at this time, I have already conquered one of the three and am close to the other two. Once I have reached those goals I will set more, the possibilities are endless, there are so many aspect of your body to work towards that no one should have trouble finding something to work for. It can be as simple as eating healthier, or as complex as being able to back squat 450lbs.
The goal is what drives the individual. If someone else picked my three motives, they might not have the same drive because maybe they don't want to walk around with their shirt off, so it will give them less motivation. The more personable the goals the better, because in the end that is what will make the difference between a winner and a loser.
How Does This Apply to the Business World?
Conquering your body is much more difficult than conquering a math test, or meeting your sales quota for the month. Your body doesn't offer any breaks, with a test when it's over you are done and go home and life goes on – when you meet your quota (or don't for that matter) the month starts over and you are back to normal. Your body is a consistent 24 hour problem, and everything that you do affects it.
When you eat a piece of pie because you love apple pie – as I do – you aren't “off the clock”, your body will take a hit because of it. You can't go to sleep or run away from your body because it will always remain with you.
What could be more difficult than a problem that never goes away? Something you can never overcome?
If you are able to effectively conquer your body and keep it subdued, what can stop you in life?
You have proven to yourself that you can solve any problem, all problems should lose their edge when you realize what being fit and healthy means. This can provide you with confidence when you are facing troubles in any aspect of life.
What's the Point of this LONG Post?
I would like to suggest that everyone makes an attempt to conquer their health or body.
It has done wonders for me, not only am I healthier and growing more fit everyday, but it helps my confidence and my self esteem as well. It makes me feel like the sky is the limit and that a simple math problem means nothing compared to bouncing back from my concussion and losing my cardiovascular health.
Take the challenge, take the initiative and you will understand the feeling you get when you conquer your body.
This will help you in the business world, the classroom, in marriages, and in virtually any situation.
In Conclusion
I really hope that this post will motivate everyone to conquer their body, mind, and health. It makes you feel better overall, and it proves your ability to solve the ultimate problem.
If you guys have any questions about me, my workout, or my story...please feel free to comment or send me a message and I will be happy to answer!

About Me:
Some of you have followed my previous posts, including my Intro or Nootropics thread where I described some personal information and logistics about myself.
Pertinent Information for this post:
- 17 years old
- Male
- Currently just over 6' tall
- Between 155 and 160 pounds
- In 6th/7th/8th/9th grade I was between probably 5'5" and 5'8" but weighed the same or even more than I did now.
