This has never happened to me before -- I can't believe it's happened to me now....
Last month I posted a message talking about how I was not paying my mortgage on a house that was selling intentionally to save the payment, and when doing so -- I made a typo and accidentally didn't pay another loan instead. I paid the loan for the house that was selling but for the other house, I did not (They are both on the same street, street # is 2 digits off... Mortgage company is the same... what a bonehead move).
Anyway, I just got it worked out with my mortgage company but they are unsure of what the impact will be to my credit. I have someone calling me back as soon as they find out so I will be made aware if they put a 30-day late on my credit report.
Has anybody been down this road before, and do you know what my options are? It was an honest mistake, a typo on their computerized payment system... And even the credit collectors who were calling me were calling for the wrong address, making me think this was a computer glitch and they had not processed my payoff yet on the house that sold on 6/30. I didn't figure it out until I actually called in and got someone on the phone from the USA (Not India) who was able to verify it was the other account that was causing the debt collector phone calls....
Now I'm left wondering if there is a way to remove this negative flag if they put it on my credit report, and if not -- how much this will influence my future interest rates & loans.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr............
