I have funded a few things on kickstarter, and now I'm not as tempted to do so again after reading in more details the "rules".

Basically, the winner can simply take the money and run. They can deliver 2 years later too (or a very crappy product). So basically it's really faith only. When you have expensive stuff, it's hard to simply pay that money and maybe never receive anything.
