alright so I discovered the fastlane about 10 months and I really only started shifting gears and switching lanes a few months ago (for the less metaphorically inclined it means getting results)
I wanted to make this post because I "wasted" hundreds of hours on things that didnt really matter.
This is not for the faint of heart, and what I'm going to tell you will make you angry.
You see, I'm a performance junkie
If something isn't as efficient as possible, or as simple as possible it bugs me
& to think that I could have been getting results sooner if it weren't for this useless information, well then that boils my blood
So today I decided to take the time on my flight to write this for anyone who will listen
The BS of Habits
According to entrepreneur articles the "average" entrepreneur does all these things
wakes up early
eats healthy foods / little alcohol
works out several times per week including some form of cardio
manipulating shower temperature (hot/cold)
etc
so does doing all these things make you a better entrepreneur?

The only thing that has direct impact on your bottom line is actually working & doing those things hinder your ability to work.
By the time you prep 5-6 meals, commute to the gym, & workout you've already wasted half your day.
Oh but Jock if I dont work out then I won't feel good then I won't work efficiently
Now if you want to be healthy then you need to outsource (the food = hire a chef via CL to come and cook for you 2-3x a week, gym = hire a VA or an employee to cover you for those hours)
Again, as a performance junkie I suggest you do 5x5 Stronglifts 3x a week (total gym time: under 3hrs a week) and always have protein shakes on hand for when you can't get to your next meal on time.
The BS of Goals
I gave up on goals after reading "How to fail at everything and still win big" which preaches systems and milestones over goals
So an example
A goal would be for me to gain 10 lbs of muscle
A system would be: eat 5-6 times a day, at least 3,000 calories, and work out heavy 3-4x a week
So lets take two young cats who want to gain muscle and give one a goal and the other a system
The one with the goal has an uphill battle, he will hate life when he temporarily loses weight due to water fluctuations or time of day. He will (if he has strong self will) eat as many calories as possible, and hate himself if one day his buddies invite him to drink or something.
The one with the system is only focus on today. What can he do today to make the system work? If he has to prep his meals or drink shakes, he will do so to make the fill the system requirements. If he has a good day, he feels good, if he feels good he is motivated to go again the next day.
Now how does this translate to biz/money
Goal: I want $X,XXX,XXX.00 in a year
System: I will talk to 10 customers today / I will make 100 cold calls / I will pass out flyers for 3 hours / I will send 15 proposals
Now, this forum has seen the first guy come and go hundreds if not thousands of times & I don't need to tell you what happens to that guy
The second guy we rarely see, the grinder. The grinder is willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to achieve his goals
Who do you want to be?
You see, most systems work if applied consistently enough.
Oh Jock havent you heard? cold calling is dead!
Oh Jock, cold email doesnt work anymore!
Passing out flyers Jock? really?
Listen the only assholes that say these things don't work is because they tried them for 1 day and didn't see the results they wanted and quit.
Are you a quitter? Didn't think so.
I repeat, most system work if applied consistently enough.
The BS of Mentors
Alright so, you think you need someone to hold your hand while you make your millions
Dude (or female equivalent) I'm going to be straight up with you:
Most millionaires have absolutely no idea how the hell they got there.
Some inherited, some became "paper" millionaires through leverage, some just won the bloody lotto.
Don't pick a mentor because he's rich. Pick someone in your industry, or someone you admire. And dont expect them to be able to teach you what they know, most of it you just have to be smart enough to pick up the information as you go.
I never had an in person mentor, but I've used books/video/audio to pick some of the greatest minds in history
The BS of Mindset
This one has a lot of people here spinning in cirlces and I could write an epic about all the wrong mindsets but here's the 9,000 foot overview of what you need to do
-Stay positive
-Look for options
-Surround yourself with the right people (not necessarily people doing better than you, but people who motivate you to do more. Could be your wife/gf, could be your dog, your family, your best friend etc. The key here is that you want to become better to be able to help them better)
-Stay teachable (willing to listen to new ideas & willing to change)
-Stay hungry for more
-Work like someone is watching
Here's what I watch when I'm feeling down and need a kick:
I hope this helps someone out there, especially the videos. They've helped me through some really tough times.
