Thomas Edison tried over 10,000 times to create the light bulb....10,0000 times. I understand the feelings of despair and I'm glad after the white hot beating you got here verbally when you posted initially that you kept coming back. That tells me you have more in you than you realize. I've read your posts. It seems you are taking steps forward.

I'm not sure whether to feel stupid or good. After reading the fastlane ( and its not the first time I've read this type of information) I felt bad and good. I felt bad because When I read Rich Dad Poor dad 10 years ago I launched into creating a business, several actually. And although I believe I had some of the right ideas, Real Estate, Internet Business and Restaurant. After reading the fastlane I realize I was missing some pieces. We began building our Real Estate Empire prior to 2007. Feeling like I had the golden key and could do it...we bought, we had a plan. Had we sold the properties at the peak of the rush...say end of 2006 and 2007 we would have made probably $300-400,000. We both (my husband and I) believed we should hang on" long term"(slow lane), they would be our retirement. We could have sold them and reinvested. Had we done so...well 2008 would have been a different story.

What could go wrong? We both have the millionaire goal in our minds, had since we were kids. So then I pulled money out of some houses to buy a dropshipping company online. 10 years ago this was cutting edge. I dealt with a Scammer who happened to be Nigerian...need I say more? $50,000 later 6 weeks of training and then dumped. I did not understand the ins and outs of the internet but I thought I did. When my attorney was concerned about the purchase I insisted he didn't understand the internet business. I thought I did all the due dilligence. When I got a hold of the site it was 50,000 ranked in alexa...pretty good. I thought it needed updating I hired someone to do it. We dropped immediatly to 1,000,000 alexa ranking. Uhhhh what the hell just happened? Lets just say that business began ending because I didn't understand what I had done. The previous owner clearly understood SEO, I didn't even know what that meant. So THEN in 2007just before the recession my husband came into $140,000. He'd always wanted a restaurant...I didn't, I had been in the biz. But he had gotten this moeny and I thought it was a sign. So since I had read Rich Dad Poor Dad I felt we needed to do a business not pay off our house. We bought a restaurant. We closed on it Oct 31, 2007. Let's just say the next 5 years were all about us losing everything we'd worked for our whole lives. We lost the rentals trying to save the restaurant. The internet business took a back seat to us losing about $4000 a month. I did what I could to save what I could. We sold the restaurant in 2012. We however were 1 week away from just shutting the bitch down and taking our losses: the restaurant is a whole diffirent story. Let's say though that at the end the stress we felt was complete. The despair we felt and still feel at times...complete. We are smart people and ...we felt so dumb and we felt we failed completely.

So now at 47 and 51, and after almost 2 years of recouperating from the emotional throtteling we are starting to move forward again. And..I read the fast lane and I know my husband and I have to reinvent ourselves. We are entreprenurerial at heart. My husband started his first business at 15 in NJ painting chemical silos. He hired an 18 year old to drive him around since he didn't have a license. We both have had the mindselt AND HAVE TAKEN ACTION. Whether there is something missing...well clearly there has been or we'd have reached our goals, or if it is just part of this journey all I can say is there is no time like the present. This took us 10 years and all our money...to fall flat on our faces and roll around in it. I don't know how long you've been trying to come up with ideas but I can say this

The fast lane had some information that clicked for me. And, I don't know exactly how to do it. And...the idea of going out there and maybe failing again makes me ill but..I'm going to. I've been trying to figure out the lesson in all of it. And the lesson is clearly in failing to reach my goals and then what will I do with that. Did I learn a lot? Sure...I'm still bitter though. That said. I'm here. I'm making my husband brainstorm with me. I told him he has to read the book because god damn it, I'm not rolling over an playing dead and I am certainly not going to let being 47 stop me from making it. So...I'm going to take the Fastlane info...and take another swing. I might come up with 10,000 more bad ideas but you know what as long as you're on the field swinging you have the opportunity to hit one out of the park...or even hit one. Give up....and you got...nothin.

One thing that stuck with me on the fastlane is to focus on helping people not the money. I am very money focused and I've always been one to want to help people. After this last 10 years however, I have to say...I've become colder and I am focused on the money much more than in the past in an emotional way. I am right now, as we speak working on my head. Getting my head and attitude right. I dont' think you've been at this too long so keep moving forward, take your lumps and keep coming back to this forum because these people ....have no mercy and when we have the goals that we have...well, we don't have time to wallow too much. Keep your mind open. Maybe your current ideas are not the million dollar ideas, I don't know, but maybe one will be a $50,000 idea and 5 years down the road you'll have that success and then you will have another idea that will lead you to the million dollar idea. So keep swinging. As long as you're breathing you're in the game. 50 is the new 30...right?

What I felt good about when reading the book is that much of my philosphy is just as the book layed things out. I figure...if there were 10 things that make me someone who can succeed, right now I have 7 of those traits. There are a few pieces missing and I need to shore those up. I need to be in the right genre of business and find a way to affect a lot of people or learn to create something with huge margins. I'm not sure how to do some of that. But I feel after reading the book that I am re-energized and I'm still in the game. I made some bad decsions and MJ goes into that in the book. When my attorney said he was concerned I should have listenend...when I worked harder to make a restaurant happen for my husband then he did, I should have stopped. Maybe all he really wanted to was talk about it...I was about making his dreams come true. When we started losing everything maybe we should have saved the houses and let the restaurant go but we were in deep at that point. Who knows, hindsight is 20/20. All I know is I've done more than most people to reach my dreams...many don't even get out of the gate they just stay in the slow lane or sidewalk, right? I'm in there...I AM IN THE GAME. Stay in the game.

This whole diatribe is just this; I want you to know that if you let the failures incapacitate you (and I have); you will never get what you want. You have to overcome it. Be disappointed and let that light the fire in you to get to your goal. One other thing (well there were many) that MJ pointed out also was that the goal is not the business, nor the business idea...your goal is ...well get Rich, right? So remember that the first vehicle you get in may not be the one that takes you there but keep your eye on the prize which is...to help as many people as possible and become a millionaire while you do it. You need to become valuable to others. How can you be a person of value? When you are, people gravitate to you, opportunities are presented. Be in the right mind set to see them and get your head right so you can take advantage of them whenthey show themselves.

All this to say...I've been where you are and I go there still sometimes. I'm back on the road though. I'm in the game. The only way I can really fail is if I give up. I'm NOT giving up, period.
