Do I need a design partner?

Hey all,

I'm an experienced software engineer working at a large tech company in Silicon Valley and have just started my LLC and plan on working on an app idea I've landed on.

I'm struggling to decide if I really need a partner. Although I technically can create an entire app myself I know that UX design is crucial to an apps marketing. I'm torn whether I should partner with an interested and experienced UX designer (a colleague from work) or if I should just design based off the UX books I've read myself.

Any chance there's other engineers here who've had to make this call?

Thanks for the response @karakoram -- that's a good point that I should keep costs low for an MVP especially. Do you recommend joust outsourcing through something like Fiverr? I'm self funded of course so I'm trying to figure out how much to pay for vs just sweat equity.
