I started my Youtube podcast in February 2023. By episode 5, I knew that this is what I wanted to dedicate my life towards. It is by far the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. I feel lucky to have discovered something I enjoy so much by age 28. Now it's just a matter of continually improving at it and adding more and more value over time, both for viewers and guests.

Milestones:
Feb 2023 - Started.
June 2024 - First interview to go past 1k views and become my most viewed video, settling at 2.1K views. About a streamer who lost his day-job as a teacher, which then launched his full-time streaming career and helped him blow up on the internet.
July 2024 - Decided to Niche down on Entrepreneurship as the sole focus of the interviews. Read The Millionaire Fastlane and joined The Fastlane Forum.

I think my most recent interview with an entrepreneur who has grown 4 separate businesses from $0 to $1M+ in yearly revenue is my best entrepreneurship episode yet.

Process based goals over the next 3 years:
Continue to upload 2 episodes a week.
Practice the habit of posting on multiple platforms, such as Instagram Reels, Tiktok, and Twitter.
Reach out to possible guests on a consistent basis to keep the pipeline flowing.
Continue to improve on thumbnail, title, and intro quality.

Results based goals over the next 3 years:
Reach financial sustainability with the podcast. Once it generates $2,000/mo in income, I can work on it full-time.
Get bigger and better guests on the show over time. I have a list of some aspirational guests I'm aiming for long-term.
Do more in-person interviews (more expensive, but can be more rewarding)
Eventually I'd like to be able to afford to hire a team to handle everything outside of the interviews.

What I'm not seeing in your post is marketing. How are you going to grow the podcast? Guests alone don't really bring that much traffic unless they're super well-known and share it with their audience.

What I'm not seeing in your post is marketing. How are you going to grow the podcast? Guests alone don't really bring that much traffic unless they're super well-known and share it with their audience.
Thanks for the audio delay tip. I'll look into it. I use riverside.fm to record video and audio tracks separately for each speaker, so maybe something is going wrong on their end, since their system syncs up the tracks automatically when I export. I'll contact their support if necessary.

Marketing is a good question. I haven't thought about it much other than organic Youtube growth, or posting shorts to Youtube/Instagram/Tiktok. Chris Williamson managed to grow his Modern Wisdom podcast to 2M+ subs in about 3 years of concerted effort (5 years total, but he said he half-assed the first two). I wonder if he did any marketing outside of just Youtube and Instagram/Twitter.

There does seem to be a certain progression of getting slightly more well known guests over time, until eventually you get someone whose name in the title will guarantee a certain level of views. 1721726253214.png
It does look like he was able to get a fairly well known guest quite early on. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for alternative marketing to grow a podcast?
