Here's my experience with website design for the last about 2 years. I'm also in @Fox Web design course.
I work with a partner who is good with graphic design, I do mostly the SEO and the content.
Both of us have understanding of WordPress and Elementor but our skills are average.
We started with friends and some classified ads which helped us land our first clients.
Then we got some good referrals and increased the prices from $1500 to $5000 and $9500.(prices in CAD)
What I learned is to focus on what we are good at and outsource the rest.
The last couple of projects we pivoted the branding and design part to Figma and once the client agreed on the design we outsourced the actual website building to a contractor I found on Fiverr.
These projects had extensive branding discovery with lots of back and forth, so the actual website building was a small part of the whole.
For reference, the contractor price is about $500-$600 CAD.
I've also experimented with SEO content outsourcing on another project, which also worked well.
Currently, the challenge I'm facing is to build a system to attract clients and to shorten the brand discovery process.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's inspiring to know that there are other people out there like yourself that have managed to make a decent income out of hustles like this.

Definitely in a similar boat to you when it comes to web design skills being average - I literally just found out about 8G firewall protection just a few days ago haha.

I wanted to ask about classified advertising - what do you mean by this? Apologies, this is a new concept to me and I would love to understand it better if you had a chance to explain it!
