E-Commerce with physical products fastlane?

Is E-Commerce with physical products fastlane? I read quite a few threads about E-Commerce stores selling physical products on here. Some members of this forum seem to do really well but to me it seems that it's one of the fastlanes that are harder to scale then most of the other online businesses, atleast if you are a not selling your own products. It seems a lot easier to sell information.
What are the advantages of selling physical products that i seem to overlook?
