Alright folks….time for me to take a deep breath, hold it in and exhale….whew, that’s better!
I thought I’d take a moment to post something, since I haven’t for a while. Here’s a little rundown of my progress, or lack thereof, since I got back from the February FLF forum summit in February.
I might be stumbling around in the dark, but since reading Millionaire Fastlane , and joining this forum last October, I’m having fun doing stuff and learning. As of right now, I’m planning on shifting gears toward ecommerce, and most likely, getting an idea for product branding.
So far, I started a couple websites after watching a bunch of videos on Word Press, and learning how to use Google Analytics, Webmaster Tools, etc. All the information I’ve been absorbing involves ideas how to get an affiliate site going, content creation, affiliate links, and such. Create content, create more content, create more and more content, get indexed in Google and Bing – rinse and repeat.
So, here’s what I’m working on (mods…delete if this is overstepping the rules, but I’m probably going to abandon this, not further promote) a couple niche websites: http://smallspacesmatter.com/ and http://bestcardashcams.com/. Of the two, I sort of abandoned the dash cams one in favor of the small spaces matter one.
Anyway, it’s not much so far, but I figure taking action is better than constant analysis with the result of being like a confused deer in the headlights. After watching videos and reading a lot, I sort of got bored with the affiliate idea for a few days and did nothing. There’s no traffic to these websites, but they’ve only been in existence for a short time (May 1st on the Best Car Dash Cams, and May 18th for the Small Spaces Matter).
In the few doing nothing days, I went back to my notes from the summit, took a few deep breaths and said to myself “Mike, you need to get something going that’s actually going to light a bigger fire under your a$$”. So from that, I thought I’d go ahead and just start focusing on ecommerce.
Since I’ve started my slow lane business 5 years ago, I’ve been buying items to repair and resell on eBay, and have picked up customers along the way with this method. So from this experience, I thought I would just take what I’ve learned so far about building websites, and get working on something like a Shopify site. The last few days I’ve come back here to the forum to read up on that subject.
One of the main reasons I’m posting now, is after getting an email from the forum last month saying it has been 3 months since the summit with the following message:
It's been exactly THREE months since the Fastlane Summit ended!!
What have you been up to?
What progress have you made?
Have you lost motivation or need a kickstart?
I figured I’d better respond so no one thinks I’ve just been sitting around on my a$$ watching TV and drinking beer!
I haven’t posted anything on the forum for a while for the most part because I’d be embarrassed as hell for not having anything to report about! That’s one thing that sank into my head at the summit.
So, even though I started a couple half-assed websites, at least I have something to talk about regarding doing something – anything - toward taking action of some form. Ahh….it’s just part of the process!
Now I better get off here and get back to work. Depending on how this goes, it might be another 3 months before I post another progress thread!
This way, when I get the next email saying “Have you lost motivation or need a kickstart?”, I’d better have an answer!
Thanks M.J.! Motivation through guilt!
