I was heavy into affiliate marketing, which at the time I thought was a fastlane business. Almost from the onset I was successful (started at about $2k a month had months of over $20k). However, I never evolved into an advertiser and just sat back and watched stats while I served myself wine at 4 pm everyday.

To make a long story short, eventually the offers were pulled, the traffic source dried up (google banned me) and I had to dig more and more into my savings to support my wife and two kids.

In the end, I had to go and find a real job and am still in one today (which thankfully I have a lot of fun in), however, I have a plan and am starting the execution phase now.

I am 35 and will retire by 40.
