Hi everyone. I've been viewing this forum for quite some time and figured that it is now time to start contributing (and continue learning from everybody else). I, like some others here, somehow found my way to this forum through the richdad forums and since then haven't felt the need to return to them. The posts here genuinely inspire me to keep pressing on towards the goal of financial freedom.
...A little bit about myself...
I'm in my upper 20's and by all accounts have an excellent job (a job where I am working for others) in an excellent company. I have a 4 year college degree in MIS (business & IT). Throughout college I chose to focus on building my technical computer/IT skills rather than learning and understanding how businesses work (at the time, that seemed boring to me). My job/career was going great, but I felt that I was bound by a very limited earnings potential despite the time and effort put in at my job. I also felt underutilized and knew that I could do much more.
...Enter the time of my life when I finally started to "get it".
About 6 months after graduation I began to read a few of the "Rich Dad" books and immediately my eyes were opened. I could not believe all of the opportunities that I saw everwhere I looked. I quickly became obsessed with this newly discovered view of nearly everything and decided I needed to take action. Within the next year, I had purchased a franchise business. By the end of year 2 I had purchased 7 single family rental properties. By the end of year 3 I had purchased an existing non-franchised business. And now, at the end of year 4, I have purchased 2 additional franchise businesses.
Most of these purchases except for the rental property have been done in partnerships. The learning that has taken place over the past 4 years has been so much more valuable than my college education that I cannot put it into words. I am at a point now (finally - after 4 hard years) where these items take a very small amount of my time in a day (I am still working for the same company as always).
...Where to go from here?
Being young and having no money, I was forced to come up with creative financing options. Most, if not all of the above investments were financed at 100%, thus eating much of the cash flow.
I feel as though I am stuck in the middle right now - not in the slow lane, but certainly not in the fast lane. I desperately want to get into the fast lane and have the drive, knowledge, and motivation but for whatever reason, this is where I seem to be stuck - just hovering in between.
I know that this forum is full of great knowledge, experience, and motivation. My hope is that something here will help me get over this next hurdle and on my way to achieving my goals. I look forward to meeting many of you and hopefully contributing to your success as well!
