I think you misunderstand what a need is. In the fastlane a need isn't something required for survival.This. To such a large extent!
Many Fastlaners, I feel, assume that they need to be in the game of survival, shelter, and sustenance if they want to make any money. Sure, if your product solves crucial needs, You've surpasses a higher than average barrier to entry, etc etc you can have a very viable business on your hands.
That said, a need in terms of products creation should only ever be defined as "A product or service which does not yet exist which people would be willing to pay for."
This is where it becomes more clear how Flappy Bird, Spotify, YouTube Red, etc. all become "needs" weighed against things like food, water filtration, and real estate.
