I see many people always complaining that there is too much competition, too much to compete, enough where it stops people from perusing their businesses.. Its really is strange to me why people worry so much about others and competition.
1st thing, competition is good, means there is some reason companies are doing it.
2nd thing, watch what they are doing and formulate a strategy around it.
3rd thing, many competitors that were funded 10 mil with equity diluting to 5%.... its not that impressive, anymore, dont worry about them worry about yourself.
And Lastly, many companies are making money doing the same thing as their competitors, and you've never heard of them.
For instance i have a friend with a dating website. The site makes hundreds of thousands per year, it looks like crap, works like crap, it is crap. Does he cry about match.com and christianmate? No, he just deals with it.
What do you do if competition is harsh and you can not compete in the high stakes of PPC or Television etc? Well find other niche channels to market your product where your competitors will not be in the beginning. My friend uses many affiliates to market his product, he has no competitors when others are sending him direct traffic.
Once you make alittle bit of money and keep getting your product better, then you can go up against the big guys. But please, people need to stop focusing on competitors out there, there are probably 500 construction companies in a town of 10,000.... 1 guy can do it cheaper than the other 9,999 and maybe better yet the other 9,999 are still in business. Even networking businesses, there are many social networks making millions that you have never heard of. I honestly believe the internet is similar. You do not have to be #1. If there are companies selling for hundreds of millions or billions that are #1 is it so bad being #20 or #10...?
