Hopefully, I'm not the only one.
Long story short I rebuilt my family's business by building an accidental web agency. I found out other people wanted to be on the first page of Google, like what I did for my family's business before Amazon was even around.
Figured out that I hated working 15/hr days and walked away from $3ish mil + both businesses to pursue what I fell in love with during this time which was sales. Really enjoyed the feeling of closing the sale and providing the absolute best customer service (this really gave me purpose). Very thankful for both businesses but neither could grow with me as my partners did not want to expand the businesses.
Caught up in the whole working in your business instead of on it and since both businesses were not 100% mine I felt trapped.
So one day I packed up and moved many states away and landed a quick sales job to sell products for. I was crushing it - lead sales rep heading for $1 million in sales for the year but... I got sick and was fired 3 days before having surgery which put me out 4 months. I chose this company to sell for so I could learn/practice essentially mastering sales so I was grateful when they fired me.
I realized selling a bunch of $10 items took FOREVER to get to $1mill in sales and I would focus on larger priced products, like Real Estate!
Once I could walk again I took a 5-month break from everything social media and all to reboot. During this time I read or listened to audible books on real estate, or sales or anything business-related you name it. I also set up a few e-commerce sites to generate some extra passive income while I figured this out. *Ironically, I did figure out a way to hack Uber and doordash so I'll share this in future posts!!
I secured my real estate license not too long ago and I'm back in a similar situation with the broker I am working for. I see the little snake games that are being played between the employees. I guess what I'm trying to say is I cannot find anyone, besides this group, to talk to that understands what I'm going through.
Does anyone else feel like when they talk to someone caught up in the 9 to 5 just want to say... One second I want to smash my head into the wall while I'm talking to you?
It's not that I'm scared to create a real estate business right now, but you have to understand I'm in the learning stages so I have to be an apprentice. At least for a little!
The people I'm surrounded with don't understand well... business, also they don't get my underlying motives, they really can't have a conversation with me, and/or talk finance with me without saying you have to wait till you're 65 to enjoy your retirement (f*** that I want to retire at 36 or sooner than that).
I don't know maybe this is me venting but I'm looking for a community to hold me accountable and vice versa. I find myself procrastinating so much now and the scares me because I feel that depressive state overwhelming me again even though I know I'm on track. It's a little demon saying why the hell did you walk away from everything and I'm trying my hardest to stay positive.
Do we have a discord? If not does anyone want to get together once or twice a week to hold each other accountable?
Please let me know as I am going insane... However, I know great things are right around the corner!
One hell of an intro and hopefully I got right to the point so Don't be shy! Let's network on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/valvanomatt/
