Hi Fastlaners. My name's Tomasz and I'd like to mix a couple of topics in this intro thread.
Firstly, a huge, sincere THANK YOU @MJ DeMarco for writing the books and teaching entrepreneurship. You already helped me recognize and name a lot of things that has been bugging me for far too long. You made me aware that I'm sitting on a nail that yet doesn't hurt enough. Also kudos to the forum's community for sharing great insights.
Secondly, it's introduction time. I'm a husband and father of 2. Turning 37 soon and living in a top 5 city in Poland. Despite a deep and silent feeling that I'm not a person I'd like to be, it is a quite peaceful and comfortable life. Anyway, I have some scripted "successes": a Computer Science degree, a lovely family, mortgage, above the average car and well paid job. I'd be glad to have a chat with you (apart from the main theme of the forum, of course) about soccer and maybe help someone with data reporting needs.
Last and chaotic part (a brain dump?). I’ve joined the forum over a week ago. I’ve just read TMFL and I’m in the middle of the UNSCRIPTED . Heck, the reading has triggered so much thoughts and kicked my insecurities. I can’t focus on my salaried job right now and I’m buzzing with new found enthusiasm at the same time. (For context: I’m working from home and handle my tasks way under “sacred” 8 hours.) For years I have this feeling that salaried work without a cause other than money is killing me from inside. Like a vicious circle of working for a living. I can do better; contribute to the society; at least help some neighbors. If I work for money, I can otherwise do something with a potential to get rich and break free from trading my time (soul) for shiny crap. Is this the life or vegetation… Little me was dreaming of becoming a soccer player, a world champion. Not a corporate contractor chained to a desk. Now I dream of unscripting. Current goals: finish reading MJ’s books and (in parallel) start with a friend a renovation services company to learn in practice how to run a business.
Thank you for bearing with me here and I’m sorry for tossing my dirt out instead of just saying nice little hello.
Disclaimer: I’m not here for internet points and I’d be more than happy to receive critique both on the content (my thinking) and my writing.
