I'm just sharing.
I got a job.
Then I took a home loan.
Then agreed to a marriage.
I had a huge yearly recurring payment.
I took a stock-take of my life and the future only looked messy. Like this:
I got a job = No time for business
Then I took a home loan = The salary was almost finished before I could get to the ATM
Then agreed to a marriage = I was about to double my financial trouble
I had a huge yearly recurring payment = It's due this month and debt collectors would soon be on my trail
The first two were WIP. The other two were not yet commissioned. So what did I do two months ago?
I QUIT
I quit my job. Firstly I faced a small business I'd been flirting with previously. It failed.
With no plans or money, but fully believing there had to be another way to get money other than a salary, I began doing anything that popped into my head.
I sold my TV and home router quickly in order to keep feeding and use the money to support my new startups a little.
Among all the stuffs I started doing was writing movie reviews for an entertainment blog. A few weeks ago, for the first time in my life, I got paid as a freelancer. The money was small, but don't we all start small?
I also registered as a seller with an online store that is 'to my country the way amazon is to the UK or US'. I just got some stuff from Aliexpress and I'm gradually populating my store.
I asked the online mall management for a mentor. I have been given one. A married lady who says she earns in profit what I used to make as a salary... good for me
She's really giving me tips on fast movers and I'm optimistic about this line of work - being an online seller. She's asked me to register and sell on more than one online mall. I'm now on four of them.
I wouldn't be sharing the URL to my stores anyway MJ mightn't like it. I haven't made a sale yet, and I don't know if I'd be kicked out of my apartment later this month, but I'm happier and more motivated than I ever was.
Taking my life into my own hands makes me feel so responsible, it's now that I understand when MJ says YOU are your biggest tool. I have all these ideas in my head (and new inventory to upload), but they're all waiting for me to get off this forum and get busy.
MJ DeMarco, thanks for TMF . I've read that book three times over. Write one soon, I've almost run out off great stuff to read and learn from.
That's all. And also, I cancelled the marriage and she actually took it well. Get a partner that understands your decisions and would do her best to support you.
