Imagine the current situation:
You are ~19 years old and have had a few jobs. You go to College for Business and drop out because the Entrepreneurship Program Head never actually ran a business himself. You've been studying business on your own time for a few years. Although you've studied without much results...until now.
You have a part-time job and run a business, but it's not quite enough to pay the bills. You still need to scale within a few months, work out the kinks, and you should be golden. In the meantime, you need another part-time J.O.B.
(For context you can't afford to go "all in" until a few months. You are living with your parents for a month to save money)
You're not a special snowflake obviously, but you don't want to undercut your abilities by working at the Burger King down the road. You look at jobs strategically. They must serve you a purpose for a limited time, and must be dropped when that purpose is fulfilled.
Your current part-time job is in Tech Support for a Web Development company.
You have a good working relationship with your supervisor who allows you to work on your business during downtime. Your business is internet based, so you are able to ask specific questions about the website you're running with other employees.
Given the context, what part-time Slowlane jobs would you pick up for a limited amount of time while you're in limbo?
IDEAS:
Sales (@ web company) - Your employer desperately needs a competent salesperson. You have no experience in sales and would benefit hugely from the experience. However, it holds the risk of being non-salaried, at 30% commission.
Hotel Receptionist (really any Receptionist Job) - Working on business during downtime at the front desk (IF EMPLOYER ALLOWS IT. Let's not get in a moral debate here).
House Flipping - You have a few friends who flip houses. You'd like to get some experience under your belt doing manual labor for them so you can start investing in income properties in 2-3 years, fixing up the places yourself. (You're also a twig and would like some more exercise)
Golf Caddy - You live in Florida and plenty of rich, successful people visit your city. You will utilize your working hours networking with them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Note: This isn't specific advice, but I'm sure a lot of other people my age will benefit from looking at their current situation this way, making changes in their employment to better improve their outcome & reach their Fastlane goals).
