Okay, the title sounds like I'm some billionaire CEO with employees. In reality, I had a pretty neat business idea that needs to validated by the market through a landing page.
My girlfriend is a software developer & I thought it would be good for her to work with me. I've been doing a fair amount of work, I developed and received one prototype product for quality assurance & then I developed a marketing prototype that's being shipped. In addition, I'm managing our social media & posting some relevant quotes and interacting with our target audience.
Her job is to get a landing page ready. Ideally, this will be done just in time for when the marketing prototype arrives. The idea is to take pretty photos & videos of the prototype & run ads to our website. If we don't get a good response from the market mind, we might have to pivot.
Now, here's the issue. I don't think she fully grasps my idea of entrepreneurship. This to me, is not a "fun side project". Win or lose, I'm sharpening my skills as an entrepreneur. We decided to use a template for our front end design & I gave her some copywrite to put onto the landing page.
Aside from a logo in the corner & 2 lines of my copywriting, nothing has been done in almost a week. When I ask her if she really has the time for this endeavour, she gets quite defensive. I don't want to be an A-Hole and act like some sort of CEO on a strict timeline, but without the need for serious coding, her task isn't very cumbersome right now.
Despite the fact I'm useless at coding, I honestly think that I'd get 20x the work done using WordPress. The site isn't too complex & is mainly copywrite driven. There is a backend element that's slightly more tedious & honestly, with the way she's working now I can't see it being done in ample time.
Now, don't get me wrong- if she was working from scratch I'd understand. But now we're using the template, I can't see the big delay in entering some copywrite on the landing page.
Despite her denying it, I feel that she's one of those people that gets their best work done when something is GUARANTEED. When getting ready for her college exams, she would study from 1pm - 3am (no kidding). Yet in entrepreneurship, you can do ALL this & get nothing. Zero. There is no guarantee, but when she says she doesn't care, her output doesn't reflect this.
What are your opinions? Should I pursue the WordPress route & hurt her feelings or be more patient? It's hard to bring it up to her because she told me it puts pressure on her.
