Hi All,
I'm Joel and I've been a member here for over a year and actually been planning my business for about a year.
I've always loved wearing plain t-shirts and really never been a fan of shirts that have too much going on in them, like the ones fighters from UFC wear, where there are tons of stuff on the shirt. One problem I always face when getting these plain shirts is either they shrink or look dated after a couple of washes. I one day paid $50 for a Pima Cotton Shirt from a brand that shall remain nameless and realized that I wanted all my shirts made from this material because it was the softest thing that I ever put on. The problem was the price, yes, it's expensive, so I did some research on the internet for other brands that were cheaper and I found one and bought 5 shirts.
Fast forward some months and I needed some more shirts of a different color, so I bought more of the shirts in different colors. Once I got the order, I soon realize that the shirts didn't feel as nice and weren't as soft as the first batch. I searched all over for the same quality from different manufacturers, even the original one and the quality was not the same. That's when I decided that I would provide the quality I was looking for, all at an affordable price.
ONE YEAR LATER!!
I'm now on the verge of launching said brand of basics and have done the following:
1- Registered the web address
2- Started an LLC + other legal stuff
3- Bought numerous books on starting clothing companies
4- My research led to alibaba.com to look for manufacturers
5- Found a manufacturer
6- Didn't like the manufacturer once they sent samples
7- Hired a sourcing company to find me the right manufacturer
8- Worked on the fit of the shirts (yes it's easier said than done, especially on shirts for women)
9- Went on 99designs.com for a logo
10- Worked on all the details of the shirts (colors, handtags, bagging, etc)
11- Found a manufacturer
12- Worked on numbers to make sure I didn't go over budget on the first order
13- Selected a shopping cart platform
14- Hired some people from elance.com to make changes to the website
15- Shot the catalog
16- Uploaded the product pictures to the site
This is where I stand now, waiting for the shirts to come out of production Mid-April.
I will post updates to this as it goes

Mar. 19, 2013 - Decided to due drop shipping through Amazon because I'm planning to open a storefront there and it makes sense that since they will have my stuff, why not use them for the site also. Their service cant be beat.
