Hi Fastlaners,
Some of you might know about my first teensy startup, ThinkSoap, that I never really finished. I realized that it just wasn't a good idea for me because of various reasons. It is going to be on hold for later development but now I am going to focus on my new fastlane startup: Food Fight Shirts
The idea is pretty simple really, you plan and carry out a food fight with your friends, and while you participate in the food fight you wear the Food Fight Shirt. The Shirt of course gets stained but you don't get the stains off. This creates a memory on the shirt, because now when you wear it, you can remember the food fight in all its glory.
Now before ya'll get to yelling about how this is a waste of time, let me go through this:
Need
FUN
I am not going to be selling the shirt, its the experience and the memory that I have to focus on. Everybody is looking for something fun to do, an activity to do with friends, a cool BirthDay party or an exciting group date.
Entry
No one, to my knowledge, has done this. Ive done searches but nothing came up so if there is any competition, its microscopic. But I am going to have to build a brand, and build it fast because the barriers of entry are not very big for this. Any thoughts on building barriers behind you, or on building a brand?
Scale
Very Scalable
Tops market I think would be everyone ages 12-30 in the English speaking world.
Control
Got it down.
Time
It does not hold me down on time.
I already asked some people what they thought about it (without implying that it was my business idea) and almost everybody liked it and said it sounded really fun. I also have some e-mail addresses for a website launch.
PLANS:
1).First, the shirt. I've picked out a place to get the Shirts made easily and pretty cheap. Not a real manufacturer yet, but close enough. The final shirt design is still being thought over.
2).The website needs to be set up. I'll be using Wordpress and Paypal for right now, but profits will later finance the web-developer and Payment Gateway Software/Merchant account.
3).Facebook Page is a must. So its going to be ready before launch.
4).Email marketing ropes need to be learned. I got signed up at MailCheat(Chimp), looks like I got a lot to learn.
5).Marketing: Facebook, PR, personal friends, events, email, and viral. Viral because when you do a food fight, you do it with friends. Charlie finds out about us and is so excited he does a food fight with his friends and they all get shirts. Now Mark, Tali, Angie, Santiago and Kate know about us too.
6).Logo/Brand: There is a ton of stuff I need to read up on branding. Any good resources? The logo also has to get done.
Alright with that out of the way, the first order of business is I need input on these logo concepts:
*Note* The logo will be on the shirt. Vote | 99designs
And so it begins...:smx6:
