I am a US citizen and employed full-time with a company and have another offer for full-time job at another company with the same type of role and in the same line of business.
Ideally, I could leave with a 2-week notice, and the new company prefers that however, my current company has officially shared notice of bonus with a payout to the bank happening in a few weeks. I tried talking to the new company to extend the start date but does not look feasible. At the same time in my current company, I have worked so hard and brought in savings so much that I do feel the bonus is well deserved.
This leaves with either an option to start the job with the new company and have an overlap of a few days (less than a month) and then continue only with the new company. Or give notice now to current job and risk the bonus payout or let go of it.
Seeking advice on what could be the best course of action. I will have 2 different computers and have confidence I can do justice to both jobs workwise. My current job has some work culture abuse with the exploitation of hard-working people and I am not sure if I give notice now can they retract the bonus although it was notified, and ideally speaking bonus is for the work done in last year? Am not greedy for money either but the situation happened so and would rather get what I deserve causing no conflict to either jobs.
Have never had to work 2 jobs so wondering is there a conflict to be concerned about if I keep the work to both companies completely separate and do justice to each. Please suggest and if any legal factors to be concerned of. Thank you.
