Few people set criterias for their lifes. Not just in business, but in life in general.
Let me explain:
Say in business - what kind of criterias do you have there?
Say in your current relationships - what kind of criterias do you have there?
Say in investment selections - what kind of criterias do you have there?
etc etc etc
The list can go on forever because every little group above can be subdivided into more groups etc.
For example when excercising I have criterias. In each muscle training session I always follow these steps (in that order):
1) 20 reps of pushups. Rest a little. Then 20 more reps of pushups.
2) 20 reps of leg training. Rest a little. Then 20 more reps of leg training.
3) 20 reps of lower abdomen excercise. Rest a little. Then 20 more reps of lower abdomen excercise.
4) 40 reps of normal situps in one go.
I have set a weekly criteria (currently used) of doing the muscles excercise above on Mondays and Wednesdays and I will power walk at least 3 kilometres every Tuesdays and Thursdays. During Thursdays and Tuesdays I do only power walking. On Mondays and Wednesdays I do only muscle training. This is my criteria for excercise. I do nothing else to keep in shape. No swimming, no tennis and no golf etc. Just that.
I have a criteria for how I check my email inboxes too. In what order etc.
I can change all of these criterias or routines, but they work right now and will be used until they are no longer of use.
Why use criterias for your life? Simple, it makes life easier and almost set on automatic mode. No need to think too much. Our brains work like that naturally. Just ask a neuro scientist he will agree. Without these pre programmed ways of doing things we would go nuts pretty quickly and life would instantly become hard to coop with. So why not do what the brain utlimately tells us to do? Set up criterias/boundaries. Set up a filter so as to save ourselfs in this over crazed world of opportunity after opportunity.
