Should a Fastlaner Ever Fear Getting Fired?

If you’re currently working a slowlane job, but it’s for a lucrative high paying company, should a fastlaner ever fear getting fired and blacklisted from that company?

I ask cause obviously we should try and not burn bridges and not get fired, but there are certain companies that are famous for stack-ranking and firing people easily compared to others.

But at the same time I feel like a fastlaner should never be dependent on any slowlane job in the long run, and it wouldn’t matter to them if they got fired or blacklisted by any particular company - no matter how how paying that company is.

Is this true? Should a fastlaner never fear getting fired and obviously do their best, but not stress about losing their job?

I have some friends who tell me I should always preserve positive references and never get fired or blacklisted from a company, but this advice never made sense to me for anyone who truly wants to go to the fastlane and never work or depend on any one single particular company.
